Dear friends,
We are writing to introduce you to the Maisha Project — Maisha, meaning "life" in Swahili —, a specialized psychological intervention initiative for adolescents between the ages of 13 and 17 who are living in situations of vulnerability resulting from family violence and psychoactive substance use. The project operates under a structured, psychoanalytic clinical model designed to interrupt cycles of harm at early stages of personal development.
Treatment lasts an initial period of three months per case and integrates individual, group, and family therapy modalities. This clinical triad allows us to simultaneously address the adolescent's subjective experience, their relational dynamics with peers, and the family systemic context — which is often both a risk factor and a therapeutic resource. Each process is designed and supervised according to standards of professional rigor and clinical sensitivity.
Our team is composed of psychologists and psychotherapists with specialized training, who participate in the project as committed volunteers. Their contribution makes it possible to keep the cost of care minimal, directing available resources toward the strictly necessary operating expenses that sustain the project: spaces, clinical materials, coordination, and administration.
To sustain the program's operation throughout the June 2026 – June 2027 cycle, we kindly invite you to participate as a donor. Your contribution — in whatever form and amount is within your reach — translates directly into continuity of care and into a young person's access to the therapeutic support they need. Every contribution, regardless of its size, makes a real difference.
We are aware that there are many causes deserving of attention, and that your resources are limited. It is precisely for this reason that we express our deepest gratitude for considering this request. Your trust in the Maisha Project is not only financial support: it is an endorsement of the conviction that adolescent mental health is a collective responsibility, and that timely intervention can transform — profoundly and lastingly — the course of a life.
We remain entirely at your disposal to provide further information, answer any questions, or agree on a form of participation that best fits your circumstances. Maisha exists because people like you decided they could do something more.
Thank you for considering being one of them.
With gratitude,
Maisha Project
